Zabrze is a vibrant city located in southern Poland, in the West part of Upper Silesia. It belongs to the Silesian Voivodeship. Neighboring Katowice, Gliwice, and Bytom, it constitutes an important academic and logistical center.  The city is renowned for its industrial heritage, medical and technological center, sports, and cultural scene. It offers numerous museums, parks, and cultural institutions,  the warmth and hospitality of its residents. Ruled throughout history by Czech King Jan Luksemburczyk, Habsburg Dynasty, then by Prussia, Zabrze, until 1945 known as Hindenburg, was attached to Poland in March 1945.  The city has evolved from a typically rural area to a modern industrial one in the XVIIIth thanks to the discovery of coal deposits, which also influenced the character and appearance of the city. To this day, one can admire buildings that reflect the architectural concepts of that time. Buildings resembling each other, featuring decorative Prussian walls. Donnersmarck's housing estate is considered a gem of this architectural concept.

Zabrze is also a home for football club Górnik Zabrze. Established in 1948, it has achieved remarkable success in Polish football, clinching numerous league titles and proudly representing the city on both national and international platforms.

Numerous cultural institutions invite visitors for numerous concerts (Zabrze Philharmonic), plays at Teatr Nowy ("New Theatre"), and to explore the captivating narratives found within the pages of literary masterpieces in local libraries and reading spaces. The local museums are the Coal Mining Museum, the Municipal Museum and the Military Technology Museum. The Maciej mine shaft and the Main Key Adit, one of the longest such structures in Europe, are open for tourists. The historic coal mines of Zabrze are listed as a Historic Monument of Poland.

The Silesian Center for Heart Diseases in Zabrze is a leading medical facility specializing in cardiac care. Established by Professor Zbigniew Religa in 1984, a pioneer in heart transplantation in Poland, the center provides comprehensive services including diagnostics, advanced treatments and rehabilitation for patients with heart-related conditions.
